The True Key to Success for ANY website

Perhaps you are a professional in a specific field of study and have built your new website around what you do for a living. On the other hand, perhaps you found an up and coming niche, studied it and researched for hours upon hours and then began the daunting tasking of writing several pages of content, incorporating a few images, building charts, etc. Regardless, your site is now built. The graphics turned out even better than anticipated and you feel the result is professional and worthy of massive attention and web traffic. You are finally finished…, or are you?

Any SEO expert will tell you that the building phase of any website is only about half of the job. What good is a website, no matter how valuable the information it contains, if no one ever sees it? I personally feel most newbies think in the most basic terms, “build it and they will come.” Oh, how far off the mark this can be. A website is usually the cornerstone of any business. This is especially true if your business is online only and doesn’t have a “brick and mortor” presence.

You Need Traffic and it Takes Work

Building traffic and increasing the page rank of your website is a crucial aspect to any successful website. Many webmasters contend that less time should be spent on presentation and more time on the traffic aspect and page rank. Certainly one of the most effective ways to do both is through website link directories. There are various types of website directories on the Interntthat you will allow you to submit your site, some better than others. Many are free, but some of the premium directories require a nominal fee, but in return offer a permanent link (versus a monthly fee.)

It is vital to realize that not all website directories are created equal. The key difference between the two is that with directory submissions your website is edited and managed by human beings. When it comes to search engines, there are programs that look over your website and track specific things across your pages. This can make it a little more difficult to get into directories, but more worthwhile if you do.

Additionally, some web directories are more like “link farms” which will certainly leave the search engines with a bad taste in their mouths. Be very careful when selecting a web site link directory. Is it SEO friendly?

There is no limit to how many directory submissions you can peform, but check out each one manually or you could be wasting your time. Work it into your weekly schedule to add about 15-20 links to your site each week. This shows natural growth and the the search engines love it and will love your site. I can just about guarantee your page rank will rise and proportionally so will your traffic stats.

LinkBidphp

After personally researching web directories and six years of Internet Marketing experience, one of the best (and growing) resources I have found is the SEO friendly LinkBidPhp script provided at www.linkbidscript.com. Many fantastic web directories on based on this script. Visit their forum via the main page and you’ll see what I mean.

What makes the LinkBid script unique? First, you bid for the top spot in each category. This is much like a “sponsored” link on other sites. Second, (and this is crucial) you are provided “one-way deep-linking” capability. This allows you to list not only your home page, but other pages within your site. They get indexed as well and can also gain page rank. Think about how powerful a site is that has more than just the home page carrying a high page rank. No only will you gain traffic, but you are creating some serious virtual real estate that you can either sell advertising on or sell the site as a whole.

Investment

Everyone knows that web hosting is so competitive. Obtaining hosting a building a site can be done very inexpensively these days. That’s great news for all of us. But, performing the basic steps for future traffic is an art-form that most membership sites leave out. A few select sites are now teaching how to build traffic first! I feel many newbies are now learning this crucial skill and realizing investment in time and money is required.

Recently, I spoke with a webmaster that built a site three to four years ago. He purchased hosting and loaded content. Then, he spent nearly $300 on manual submissions to free link directories, article marketing and several linkbid SEO friendly websites. $300 initial layout may sound expensive. But, consider that his Google Adsense earnings have consistently brought him approximately $10 per month and continue to do so without him touching the site. And, that is only from the Adsense ads and only from one of his many sites!

Can it be done cheaply? Sure it can. And, it is something that you can build on as time and funds allow. But, please realize that it does not come over night. Correct link building takes time. We can’t speed up the search engines or their schedules. Patience and good notes are a must.

* Re-tested full LBS v1.2 with special attention paid to CAPTCHA.
* Works fine on our servers and a few other server we tested it on with different configuration to our regular server.
* Issue with typing CAPTCHA in capital or lowercase fixed. Now entire CAPTCHA text should be in capital letters.
* There is still confusion over 0(zero) and O(letter O) but this issue occurs approximately 1time after 25 try. (Most other CAPTCHA solution have this same problem.
* Naturally, CAPTCHA in LBS being image based does not work if GD is not enabled on the server LBS is installed on.
but this is generally any time with any application what contain CAPTCHA)

Misi and SkinnerW have been working hard on Link Bid Script V1.2, the script is now at the final stages, Misi is just adding finishing touches to it, once that is completed in the next few days, the latest Link Bid Script would be available for download. A lot of improvements, mostly suggested by LBS users at LBS forum has was made in the version to be released soon. Some of the new and improved features you can expect to see in the new version are:

Some of the new features:

1. New links page and new links RSS feed including new field to database and admin panel to manage number of new links.

2. 2 New fields added to admin panel and database to manage minimum initial bid and minimum upgrade bid.

3. Validation for minimum initial bid and min upgrade during submission.

4. New section in the admin panel and new table in the database to manage listing fields.

- Brief description field for category pages (former description1). Max length is set from the admin panel.

- Extended description for link details page (former description2). Max length is also set from the admin panel.

- new field Meta Description for link details page. Max length is also set from the admin panel.

- new field Meta Keywords for link details page. Max length is also set from the admin panel.

- Max length for listing title now can be set from the admin panel.

- Added link counters for all text areas on the submission form

5. New fields added to database for 3 deep links. Deep links functionality can be enabled or disabled from the admin panel.

6. New field added to database for last link upgrade date. Now every time new upgrade bid is approved this date will be upgraded in the database.

in the 1.1A script version in the “last upgrade” field script was showing submission date instead of actual last upgrade date.

7. Social bookmarking functionality added. From the main page users can bookmark the directory itself and from the listing details pages - that particular listing.

8. Improved template system for easier modifications.

9. Added MSN thumbnails to listing details pages and top listing.

Some of the modifications:

1. Modified listing page URL to make it more SE friendly: show listing title instead of domain name. ( instead of: velnetwebcouk.html now it is: web-hosting-domain-names-uk.html)

2. Modified RSS feeds to display links to the listing details pages instead of actual url’s. This will greatly improve SE spidering and indexing because of more links to the internal pages.

3. Refreshed admin panel with improved navigation.

4. Modified categories source file to use category meta description and meta keywords instead of main site description and keywords.

5. Modified processing.php and update.php files to display more link information (title and url) in the confirmation emails.

6. Added validation of the category during new listing submission.

7. Added SQL query to show actual listing category.

8. Words such as buy and other potentially SE unfrindly pharases removed.

The above is only some of the modifications, not all of it.

PHP Link bid scrip powered bid for directories such as Bidland directory and hundreds of other like it were chosen over traditional web directories as the preferred directory by webmasters, search engine marketing consultants and link builders when building backlink for a website.

A survey of aforementioned Internet professional cites several reasons why bid for position directories are their favourite directory includes the fact that approval of link in bid for position directories are far quicker if not instant compared with approval time of link in traditional web directories.
Other reasons includes the fact that you have a better chances of getting
your website listed on the homepage of a bidding directory, wears its
highly unlikely that you will ever get you site listed on the homepage of a
traditional directory.

The above finding strongly suggests that a bid for position directory is a
far better proposition when thinking of starting a web directory than a
traditional directory.
